As my pastor was talking about the born againexperience, I couldn’t’ help but think of how it is like a woman conceiving a child.
When a woman comes in close intimate contact with a man, new life is conceived inside of her. When we first believe, we also come into close intimate contact with our loving Savior through a prayer of faith and He places inside of us new life and just like that we are spiritually alive. Just like a pregnant woman we may not have any outward evidence that there is a new life in us, but it is there just the same. Nothing in our lives may change outwardly, but inwardly there is life where there was none before. The enemy may try to convince us that nothing really happened, but you can be sure that it did. It’s in the hidden place right now, living and growing where no one can see it, not even you.
In the physical, a woman needs to eat properly to have a healthy baby. And it is the same with this new life inside of us. We have to eat the Bread of Life, which is Jesus! We need to continually feed ourselves spiritually by spending time with Him. We do this by reading the Word, talking to Him, listening for Him as he speaks to us through our pastor, other Christians and through that still small voice in our own hearts. He will provide for us the food we need for that life in us to grow and mature.
Over time it becomes obvious that the woman is pregnant. It has grown so much that she can no longer hide it. Again it’s paralleled in the spirit. That new life in us grows and grows until we can’t hide it any longer, people begin to notice that have changed. There issomething different about us and it’s Jesus alive in us!!
Then it is time. It’s time to give birth. To bring the child into the world that he might live. In the spirit it is the same as well. There comes a time when Christ is birthed in us. Just like the Apostle Paul said in Galatians 2:20. (NKJV) “… it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me…”
This is where we are going. We are just like Mary, bearing the seed of God, which is the Word of God and we also are meant to bring Christ into the world. As it says in Romans 7:4 (NKJV)
“Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another—to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God.”
Isn’t that wonderful, we have become the bride of Christ that we might bear fruit! And that fruit is Christ Jesus Himself. It is our destiny to bring Him into the world and you can be sure it will happen, because He has planted His seed of life in us!
